
MINNA: No fewer than 30 families of policemen who died in active service have received cash support of over N60 million from the Nigeria Police Force.
The Niger state Commissioner of Police, Monday Bala Kuryas presented the cheques to the families of the deceased at the Police Headquarters in Minna, the Niger State Capital.
In a statement made available to journalists in this regard by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun noted that the beneficiaries were families of those officers who lost their lives in active service in the state between 2020/2021.
Abiodun said that the support was facilitated by the “Group Life Assurance” project, an initiative by the Inspector General of Police.
“This welfare gesture is an initiative of the Inspector General of Police “Group Life Assurance” geared towards improving the lives and capacity of the families left behind by these heroic officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
“While presenting the cheques to the next-of-kin in the presence of family members, the Commissioner of Police appreciates the Inspector General of Police for such laudable initiative to provide succour to the families of the deceased personnel and encouraged the beneficiaries to effectively manage and judiciously use the resources for a better welfare of the families,’ the statement said.
