🚨 *BREAKING: FG SUSPENDS NIGER NSCDC COMMANDANT OVER MINERS’ DEATHS*
The Federal Government has suspended the Niger State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Suberu Aniviye, following the deaths of suspected illegal miners in Minna.
Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo also ordered a full investigation into the incident, which reportedly occurred at the M.I. Wushishi/Lukoto axis.
Reports put the number of deaths at no fewer than 33, although the NSCDC has not confirmed a specific figure.
The government has urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding as investigations continue.
