MINNA: Two teenagers, aged 22 and 18 have been arrested by the police in Niger State for kidnapping and killing a 13-year-old victim.

The suspects, identified by the police as Nafiu Umar and Usman Sabiu were arrested in Hayin-Nassarawa, in the Tafa local government area of Niger State.

Parading the suspects in Minna, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun said that the suspect had kidnapped the 13-year-old identified as Yasir Salisu, of the same residence to demand N100,000 ransom.

“Usman Sabiu confessed to having conspired with Nafiu Umar and abducted the missing person to the resident of Nafiu intending to collect one hundred thousand naira ransom (N100,000) from the victim’s father.

“Unfortunately, he claimed that the victim could not produce the father’s contact number to demand ransom and both suspects were identified by the victim who is one of their neighbours; hence, the victim was strangled and killed by the suspects.”

The victim’s body was later exhumed at a shallow grave near a river bank in Hayin-Nassarawa, the police said.
