Cristiano Ronaldo made the headlines when he became the player with the most international football goals after his brace against Republic of Ireland in Portugal's world cup qualifiers. Cristiano Ronaldo now has 111 goals for Portugal in 180 appearances at the age of 36.
Cristiano Ronaldo described it as a 'special moment', after his record-breaking goals secured a 2-1 win for Portugal over Republic of Ireland. Many players can only dream to achieve such an incredible and remarkable record in international football.
However, Romelu Lukaku is poised to reach and break that record. The 28-years-old Belgian superstar can't just stop scoring for the Belgium national team at the moment. He has scored three goals in two games for Belgium in their recent world cup qualifiers matches against Estonia and Czech Republic.
Romelu Lukaku now has 66 international goals for the Belgium senior men's team in 100 appearances across all competitions including friendlies. Cristiano Ronaldo is gradually passing his peak and prime at the age of 36 while Romelu Lukaku is presently in his peak at 28-years-old, and he just can't stop scoring whenever he's wearing the famous red shirt of Belgium.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s record is not totally safe and with Romelu Lukaku's exploits he might as well break the record to become the player with the most international goals.
